Introduction
When I started my journey as a digital marketing student, I have no idea about it what is this thing digital marketing i only know traditional marketing , I know it seem like funny but this is what i m.
I didn’t know where to begin , what tools to learn, or which area to focus on , but i was very curious to learn new thing. And that curiosity push me towards to learn and explore the digital world.
In this post, I’ll share what I learned, what mistakes I made, and what really helped me grow in my first 30 days as a digital marketer.
Week 1 – Understand the basics
My first week was all about understand the basics digital marketing.
In my first week i learn lot about DM (Digital marketing ) , I know internet can access you more thing than you think and I started from Youtube then Google then our most growing search app chatgpt.
Here What I learned in First Week 1
- The difference between organic marketing (like SEO, social media posts) and paid marketing (like Google Ads, Meta Ads), this is where my mind got open and motivate to explore more about digital marketing.
- The core components: SEO (Search Engine Optimisation ), SEM ( Search Engine Marketing ) , Email Marketing, Social Media, Google ads etc
- How important it is to understand your audience before doing anything else.
Your first month was look like this if you are new in digital marketing and don’t know about it as i was , but don’t worry you just need a signal to do new thing and explore new field if you are really willing to do it and have desire to do something.
Week 2 – Take hand on Experience on Tools
Once I learn and read the theory , I Jump to tools
I Experimented with :
- Semrush for keyword Research
- Google Keyword Planner for research.
- Google Analytics (GA4) to see how websites are tracked.
At first it seem difficult more confusion what to do or what not to do , you are overwhelmed with so many charts , numbers. But slowly, I realized each tool is like a different piece of the same puzzle.
But i don’t just stuck at this i experiment many thing and do some more research and find some courses which i explain next .
Week 3 – Taking Some Courses
I don’t want to do random things and do things without any Goal , without any systematic plan or any discipline. Because when you are enroll in any course there is pressure for you to complete it as soon as possible and get the certificate Your reward.
That’s why I take some courses :
- Hubspot Digital Marketing Basics (free)
- Google Digital Marketing Training (free)
- Coursera Foundation of Dm (free)
I really recommend you do it , this will give you clear idea about digital marketing. And GIve you more knowledge about it.
Week 4 – Facing Challenges and Building Habits
By the fourth week, I started to realize that consistency matters more than motivation.
Sometimes I felt lost — there’s so much to learn. But instead of quitting, I made a simple system:
- 1 hour daily learning (YouTube + blogs)
- 30 minutes practice (tools or campaigns)
- Research more about digital marketing
Tip : Treat your learning like a project, not a hobby. Small, consistent steps compound over time.
What I Achieved in My First Month
- Understood the basics of digital marketing.
- Learned Canva, Google Keyword Planner, and GA4.
- Taking some course and gain some more knowledge.
- Built a habit of consistent learning even after burnout.
Final Thoughts
Learning digital marketing is not just about skills — it’s about mindset.
You’ll feel confused at first, but every mistake you make teaches you something valuable.
I’m still a student, still learning, still experimenting. But every day I take one small step toward becoming real digital Marketer beause i know some small step can take you to your journey and you are ahead of 90% of students that never take this step.
If you’re also starting your digital marketing journey, remember — it’s not about being perfect; it’s about being consistent.
